Design: Prague 014
Prague is sometimes called "the City of a Hundred Spires", even though the actual count might nowadays be closer to 500 spires.
This black and white photograph shows the iconic spires of the Tyn Church in the Old Town of Prague.
In the background, you see the Žižkov Television Tower, in Czech known as Žižkovský vysílač. Could it be considered one of those spires? Perhaps. Or perhaps not.
It surely is a very recognizable structure. Some time ago, a popular website called it the second ugliest building in the world. Beauty and ugliness are of course subjective, but that claim seems very exaggerated. It can't be denied, though, that the Žižkov Television Tower is a very original structure.
