Prague Active

Prague Active  is a company organizing guided hiking and mountain bike tours in the picturesque Bohemian Paradise region.

The beautiful Bohemian Paradise area is one of the most visited places in Czechia. For hundreds of years, this amazing region has been a magnet for artists, aristocrats and all kinds of people seeking beauty in nature. Explore this unique combination of unusual rock formations, deep pine forests, majestic old castles and historic villages with log cottages, losing yourself for a moment in the labyrinth of rocks that is the Bohemian Paradise Geopark area.

The Protected Landscape Area Bohemian Paradise was created in 1955 as the first nature reserve in Czechia. In 2015, it became a member of the UNESCO Global Geopark Network and has been awarded the title of Bohemian Paradise - UNESCO Global Geopark. The vast area of the Geopark, which is 181 km2, lies between the historical town of Jíčín, Mnichovo Hradiště, Sobotka and the northern border of the town of Turnov.

There is direct train from Prague to Turnov, but if you want to explore the most beautiful locations, it is recommended to have a guide with good knowledge of the area, such as Prague Active. Your guide will pick you up in Prague and will drive you to the destination in a comfortable minivan. Having an English speaking tour guide with you is a great advantage, because you won't need to worry about getting lost in the rock labyrinths and you won't waste time looking for the way. Your guide knows the most beautiful spots and will lead you to them.

The entire Bohemian Paradise area offers comfortable hiking paths. Easy walks in forests around surrounding rocks formations with picturesque landscape view full of blooming meadows, ponds full of fish, pine woods, and wetlands with the precious animals. Biking enthusiasts will also enjoy Bohemian Paradise, as the whole area is interwoven with a dense network of bicycle trails leading along an asphalt road, as well as forest paths. With Prague Active you can rent an MTB XT Deore and your experienced local guide will show you the most beautiful locations. On the way, there are some restaurants and a small kiosk where you can buy some refreshments and snacks.

The Bohemian Paradise area is one of the most famous tourist destinations in the Czech Republic. One of the biggest tourist attractions is the area of rock formations in Prachov Rock City. Thanks to the powers of nature you can appreciate sandstone rock formations, in incredible shapes, one of the highest is 60m tall.

Prachov Rocks are an excellent area for hiking thanks to the many trails that run between them. You’ll be walking through thin cracks in the rocks, climbing up and down and enjoying the views from the top. One of the best views is from the Lookout Českého ráje, you can see a big part of the beautiful area of Prachov Rocks from there, including the magnificent Emperor’s Pass and Trosky castle - a symbol of Bohemian Paradise.

The closest town to the Prachov Rocks (5km) is Jičín, often called the gateway to Bohemian Paradise, and as a matter of fact, it’s quite an interesting destination in its own right. The large cobblestoned main square is surrounded by historic buildings, including the Valdštejn Palace, steeply spired Valdice gate tower and the old Gothic church of St. Ignatius from the 14th century.

If Jičín is the gateway to Bohemian Paradise, Turnov can be called its heart. It’s closer to the center of Bohemian Paradise and is the nearest town to many of the region's attractions, such as Trosky, Kost, Hrubá Skála and Valdštejn castles, and to Hrubá Skála rock formations.

The tours take place from Monday to Sunday from 8:00 AM to approx. 4:00 PM. To book your spots, please send an email to Lukas in advance: pragueactive@gmail.com. Pick-up is from the parking lot P+R near Ládví metro station in Prague.
